Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment

Skills, tools and opportunity for young people.

AREA OF WORK 04

Turning effort into income.

Poverty cannot be addressed sustainably through donations alone. Uganda has a young and energetic population, but many young people and households need access to skills, tools, markets and opportunities that can turn effort into income. This is an area where Chongqing can offer more than financial donations. Chongqing has deep experience in manufacturing, machinery, vocational training, agriculture, technology and industry. Where appropriate, those capabilities will be connected to Ugandan communities through training, equipment, knowledge transfer and partnerships.
