Why friendship that serves people

A reflection on the idea behind the Association: that friendship between nations should be felt in real life, not only in ceremonies.

Agreements between governments and companies matter. But the friendships that last are usually built by people — a health worker who receives better equipment, a family that builds a livelihood, a child who stays in school.

Chongqing–Uganda Friendship Association was established to turn the friendship between the people of Chongqing and Uganda into practical service to communities — not simply to organise ceremonies or exchanges.

Friendship with a purpose

For the Association, friendship is a way of mobilising people, partnerships, knowledge and resources for health, education, livelihoods, agriculture and humanitarian needs.

“

Communities in Uganda and Chongqing connected through friendship, compassion and opportunity.
